What a match score means
A match score is a 0–100% rating of how closely a job listing lines up with your title, experience level, skills, location, and salary preferences. Scores of 90%+ are considered excellent fits.

The score is a fit signal for prioritization — it does not guarantee interviews or offers, because employers make hiring decisions.
What goes into the score
Matching combines skills overlap, seniority fit, location, and compensation alignment against your profile.
When embeddings are available, BoltHire also uses similarity between your profile and the listing to refine ranking. Listings that are not embedded yet can still be scored with a keyword heuristic so nothing breaks mid-search.
You can raise or lower what you accept by adjusting preferences in onboarding and account settings — Auto Apply stays within your plan limits.
How to use match scores
Treat high scores as strong candidates to review or Auto Apply; use mid-range scores when you want broader exploration.
Start with 90%+ roles when you want excellent fits. Expand the range if you are exploring adjacent titles or markets.
Always review your dashboard so you know which listings you opened and can follow up after you submit on the employer site.
